Clubs, events and challenges
Join activities, choose what to share and follow your step progress.
The Community tab brings together published clubs, events and challenges. You can browse before signing in; joining and managing your participation require an account. This guide describes the development build. Available activities and native tracking depend on the installed build and enabled services.
Some activities use AI-generated cover illustrations. From Mobile Preview 1.10.2, repeated image captions are removed from cards and detail pages. These illustrations are not photographs of actual members or an actual event. Read the activity's title, dates, venue and rules for its details. Artwork does not promise a physical gathering, attendance or a reward.
MedBuk+ Community and AI Horizon
The managed live catalog now includes MedBuk+ Community. Joining the club does not share your health passport. Availability differs between the live service and the separate Preview app; a club on one is not automatically created on the other.
The linked AI Horizon 2026 · MedBuk+ event and AI Horizon · Two-day Steps challenge are saved as unpublished drafts. They cannot yet be joined. The organiser lists AI Horizon on 6–7 October at PWCC, Penang. MedBuk's booth hours, competition hours, prizes and final rules still need confirmation. An illustration is not an announcement that the competition is open.
Preview activities
MedBuk Preview now includes three clubs, two events and three challenges for trying the Community screens. Open Community, then choose Events, Challenges or Clubs. If you already have the tab open, switch away and back.
Look for Preview · in each title. Exhibition Walk runs 16–18 September 2026, Weekend Walk runs 19–20 September, and September Steps runs 16–30 September, all in Malaysia time. The images are AI-generated illustrations. These are test activities with no organised gathering or prizes. Memberships and leaderboards start empty and change only when people choose to participate.
Preview and the live app have separate catalogs and accounts. The real AI Horizon event and competition are still unpublished; the Preview activities do not enter you into them.
Can I manage an activity?
Signed-in members can create and edit their own social clubs. Submitted text is reviewed before publication. The managed Preview clubs cannot be edited by members. Event and challenge creation, editing and cancellation are not yet available in the mobile app or platform dashboard.
Create or edit your community profile
In Mobile Preview 1.7.3, open You, then Create profile or Edit profile.
- Enter your preferred name and handle. Select Continue.
- Review Appear in search and Public profile. Both start off for new profiles.
- Open Full profile notices, Community rules or Privacy information for details. Returning keeps your draft.
- Confirm the community terms, then select Save profile. Your text is reviewed before other members see it.
A profile is optional. These settings do not share your health passport. If saving fails, your entries stay available for correction and retry. Closing an edited draft asks whether to discard it. Settings, preferences and language remain under Settings & privacy on You.
How do I join an activity?
Open Community, choose Events, Challenges or Clubs, and open the activity you want to join. Check its published information and rules before confirming.
An event link or code can take you directly to its details. An event may include a club and one or more challenges; the join screen explains the memberships involved. Joining an event does not automatically start a challenge counter or publish your health passport.
Use Find friends and clubs to look for people or clubs. Some clubs or submissions may be private or awaiting moderation, so they will not appear in public results.
Search and discovery
Mobile Preview 1.10 adds underline Friends / Clubs tabs. Inside Friends, choose Suggested, Contacts or QR Code. Search by name or handle using at least two characters; Clubs also lets you browse available public clubs without a query.
Suggested shows approved profiles that chose both public visibility and discovery. It leaves out you, people you already follow or have requested, blocked or muted accounts, and deleted accounts. Open a profile to choose whether to follow it. Suggestions are not personalized from contacts, health records or private memberships. If none are available, search for a friend or invite someone.
Contacts offers Invite friends. Choose a messaging app from the phone's share sheet, then choose your recipient there. You review and send the invitation yourself. MedBuk does not read, match or upload your address book. Canceling closes the sheet without sending anything. Preview invitations open the MedBuk Preview browser sign-in.
QR Code shows your approved public profile's QR and Share link. A friend can scan it with their phone camera and sign in to view the available social profile. You can also select the displayed link to copy it. If your profile is private, missing or awaiting review, use Manage profile; MedBuk will not make it public for you. Your health passport is never part of this QR.
Browse a result
In Mobile Preview 1.10.1, tap anywhere on a member or club result to open its details. Member results show a name and handle. Club results show a short description and member count; open the club to read its full description. Viewing a result does not follow the member or join the club. Choose Follow, Request to follow or Join club separately. Private profiles and member directories retain their access rules.
Search shows compact animated placeholders while loading, followed by a short result entrance. Reduced-motion settings suppress these animations. Use Clear search to start again, Retry after a failed request, or More results when available. An empty club catalog is different from a query with no matches. If a profile or club has become unavailable, retry or go back to Search; it may have changed visibility, been removed or become inaccessible to your account.
Open the small Search privacy link for the full explanation in Privacy & data controls. Returning to Search keeps your query and chosen category.
How do I find followers and club members?
Updated app versions show Followers and Following beneath your profile. Tap a count to browse profiles, then open a member to follow them or request approval for a private profile. Availability depends on your installed app version and connected service.
Your connection lists start private. Connection privacy offers a separate choice to show them to people who can view your counts. Shared relationships appear only when the relevant people agree. Making a profile public does not enable this setting.
Inside a club, Members opens the directory for current members. Your visibility in this club lets you choose whether your reviewed name, handle and membership appear there. This also allows those members to open your social profile; it does not expose your health passport. Members who have not opted in are absent from the list, so the directory can be shorter than the membership count.
Hiding yourself removes that listing. Leaving withdraws your related participation and clears directory consent; rejoining does not restore it. Blocking, muting, moderation and privacy choices can also hide entries. Club owners can review pending membership requests in Manage club / the request section.
When do challenge steps start counting?
Steps count from the challenge's recorded joining time, or its start time if it has not started yet. Earlier steps from that day do not count towards this challenge.
After joining, open the challenge and select Start live tracking. Grant the requested activity permission if you want the app to read your steps. The screen shows both your latest device count and the score saved to the server.
The development build refreshes the leaderboard about every 15 seconds while the challenge screen is open and tracking is active. Backgrounding the app pauses this live session. Device health updates and network connections can be delayed, so this is not an instant or guaranteed background counter. Return to the challenge and resume before it ends to catch up on supported readings.
Scores are labelled provisional. A provisional step count does not establish eligibility for prizes or merchant rewards. Only the activity's published rules describe any rewards that are actually offered.
Who can see my score?
Sharing has two separate choices:
- Member leaderboard: share the alias and score described on the join screen with the people who can access that leaderboard.
- Public event display: separately allow your alias and score on an event display that anyone at the venue may see.
Both choices start off. Review them for each challenge. Joining a club or event does not grant access to your private meals, blood pressure, glucose or clinical records.
You can update your sharing choices from the challenge screen. Leaving removes your score from its leaderboards; rejoining starts a new counting window. The leaderboard also shows your own row when it is outside the leading group.
How do I report or hide something?
Use the available safety actions on a person, club or supported content to report it, block it or hide it from your signed-in views. Blocking a person does not make a public event screen private: sharing on that screen remains a separate choice.
Read the in-app community rules before participating. Published dates, venues, entry conditions and rewards come from the actual activity listing, not from this guide.
